Botox to treat severe urinary incontinence

Wrinkle remover may relieve overactive bladder.

The FDA has approved the use of Botox injections to help people with neurological conditions — such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries — who suffer from urinary incontinence. The outpatient procedure requires injections in the bladder muscle. Botox paralyzes the muscle, preventing contractions, thereby allowing the bladder to store more urine.
